The method
How to make it
Muddle three ripe strawberries in the shaker until fully surrendered.
Run a wedge of pineapple through the juicer. An ounce of fresh pineapple juice sharpens ripe strawberries the way lemon alone never quite does, sweetness meeting sweetness with an acid edge.
Add vodka, lemon juice, the pineapple juice and simple syrup.
Fill with ice and shake hard for 12 seconds.
Double strain into a chilled coupe, pressing the pulp to keep the color and lose the seeds.
Garnish with a fanned strawberry and a slim spear cut from the pineapple you juiced.
The serve
How to present it
Deep pink in a chilled coupe with the strawberry fan showing off. The drink is only as good as the berries, so make it in June and skip it in February. Serve two, the first one goes unreasonably fast.

Swaps & variations
A quarter ounce of orange liqueur adds polish. Black pepper cracked once over the top sounds wrong and tastes right, an old chef trick. With white rum instead of vodka it drinks like a strawberry daiquiri that went to finishing school.
