The method
How to make it
Fill a rocks glass with ice, all the way up.
Pour the coffee liqueur in first, it is the heaviest and takes the bottom floor.
Add the vodka gently over the ice as the middle layer.
Top with club soda for the fizzy penthouse.
Serve with a straw and the one rule: drink it bottom to top in one continuous pull, coffee first, fizz last. That is the ride.
The serve
How to present it
Three layers in a rocks glass and a straw standing at attention. This is a participation cocktail, explain the bottom-up rule and then watch. Best served in pairs to people who just finished something difficult.

Swaps & variations
Swap the club soda for cold brew and it becomes a genuinely good iced coffee that bites back. Irish cream instead of vodka turns it dessert. Sip it like a normal person and it is just a fizzy black russian, respectable, if cowardly.
