How to make it
Fill a tall glass with ice.
Add the coconut rum, then the mango nectar and orange juice.
Stir gently, this part should be a uniform tropical gold.
Pour the grenadine slowly down the inside of the glass and let it sink. Do not stir again, the sunrise builds itself.
Garnish with an orange wheel and a cherry on a pick.
The serve
How to present it
The gradient is the garnish: deep red floor rising into mango gold. Serve it where the light can get through the glass, brunch table by a window is ideal. Hand it over with the layers intact and let the first sip do the mixing.

Swaps & variations
Pineapple juice for the mango nectar drifts it toward the islands. A splash of lime juice keeps the sweetness from getting too comfortable. White rum instead of coconut turns it into a straight rum sunrise, sturdier but less beachy.
